To write an exponent in radical form, the denominator, or index goes in front of the radical, and the numerator goes inside of the radical. We raise the base to the power of the numerator We raise the base to the power of the numerator.

Fractional exponents indicate radicals. Use the numerator as the power and the denominator as the index of the radical. All the rules of exponents apply to expressions with rational exponents. If operations are to be applied to radicals with different indices, first rewrite the radicals in exponential form and then apply the rules for exponents.

In this activity students will need to use their root properties, exponent properties, and write rational exponents in radical form throughout three levels of the escape room. Each level gets a bit more difficult. Have the students do this by themselves or with a partner and work their way through.
